Go from Munich train station or München Pasing to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Change to the Bayerische Zugspitzenbahn Cable Railway (which is at the Western end behind the train station).Arrival by car:
Go on the motorway from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.Then go in the direction of Zugsspitze /Greinau. Drive through Greinau on the main road and after leaving Greinau follow the 3 km long mountain road to the carpark of the Eibsee valley terminal of the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn cable railway.
Go to the valley terminal Eibsee of the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Cable Railway.
Departure from the valley terminal:
In storm-free weather the cable railway leaves at every half hour. At the summit change to the glacier funicular. Then depart to Sonnalpin. Arrival and departure between Sonnalpin and Schneefernerhaus is possible only via a footpath and then with the cable railway. Be sure to wear clothing suitable for the mountains. Going up is only permitted in the presence of the driver of the cable car. A leaflet is available from the measuring station in order to diminish the risk to personal safety.

The measuring station Waldhof is reached from the town of Uelzen in the North, if you drive in the direction of Wieren and continue via Bodenteich to Langenbrügge. Then go first in the direction of Lüben, thereafter follow the road in the direction of Waldhof and turn off into the forest after a single farm building ("Waldhof"). The measuring station is about 300 m to your right.You can get to the measuring station from the South, if you drive with your car from Wittingen to Stöcken and then on to Langenbrügge. Every tram leaving from Freiburg train station is heading into the city centre, i.e. to the stop Bertholdsbrunnen. Change there to the tramline 4 going to Günterstal. At the tram stop Günterstal take the bus going to Horben. Get off at the valley terminal of the Schauinsland cable railway and ride up with the cable railway to the Schauinsland summit station. From there a small road about 100 m in length is leading downwards to a parking area. From the car park an asphalt path is leading to the cabin "Rappenecker Hütte" and reaches the measuring station about 1.5 km away. The measuring station is a long building covered in wood shingles with a large measuring area directly in front of it.Arrival by car:
The way from Freiburg city centre to the Schauinsland mountain 17 km away is well sign-posted. There is a path on the hillside leading from the first carpark to the station which lies at a distance of 1.5 km. However, this path is blocked for general traffic and cannot be used at times when the barrier is down. Travelling by car from Freiburg city centre up to the Schauinsland mountain takes approximately 40 minutes.

Take the train from Rostock in the direction of Oberhof. From there visitors can take a taxi or, when arranged beforehand, they are collected from the train station in Oberhof.Arrival by car:
Leave the A 4 at the exit to Gotha and continue on the B 247 in the direction of Suhl. 1 km past Oberhof turn left and go in the direction of Schmücke. After another 10 km you will get to the measuring station (on the right-hand side of the road).

Follow the motorway to Rostock. Continue on the B 105 in the direction of Stralsund to Löbnitz. From Löbnitz follow the Kreisstraße to Bath and proceed to Zingst. Go on in the direction of Müggenburg and you will find the measuring station 1.5 km after leaving Zingst town limits.
